American Mean Machines: 2016 Shelby GT350 Vs 2016 Shelby GT350R

First of all Shelby is a symbol for a stylish and powerful American muscle car. It’s like a nickname for this type of car. And now Shelby had revealed two new icons to the their countless collection of horsepower – 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 and the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350R. These two vehicles are actually ready-to-race track cars. In the video that we are going to show you, we will try to find out the differences between those two American muscle rides.

The first GT350 car was built back in 1965 as a high-performance variant of the Mustang GT. This version was manufactured for only five years and then it was discontinued. The R version is something special – those models are lighter and faster. Why? Everything that makes these cars slower is removed. Parts like rear and side windows are replaced with lighter plexiglass windows. Other parts like the trim panels, insulating materials, hetar are also gone.

Both vehicles are equipped with the new flat-plane crank 5.2-litre V8 engine under the hood. The engine is capable of producign 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. There is one interesting thing about this engine – the red line is put to something like 8,250 RPM. It’s so unnatural to rev the engine to such numbers when you are sitting in an American muscle car. You just reach illegal speeds a long way before the engine is finished revving its way to the top.

There certain things like rear seats, air conditioner, stereo, carpet and many more that are missing in the R version. Shelby took a decision to remove them in the R edition but you could still add them.
