Check Out These Two Dodge Chargers From A Different Era!
Inside Line Video has made a great comparison between the old and the new Dodge Charger. In the following video you can see this 2011 Dodge Charger in a comparison to the old General Lee Charger. It had to be done… pit the iconic 1969 Charger against its brawny 2011 distant descendant on a comparison track test: 0 to 60; 60 to 0; skid pad and slalom. Which will win and in which categories? You probably think you already know but here it is for the record: in this video we see the General Lee 1969 Charger, racing a modern 2011 Dodge Charger RT HEMI. Under the hood of the General is a 440 CID V8 big block.
The General Lee is a bit slower to 60 than the modern Dodge, 6.2 seconds vs 5.4 for the modern car. The big difference in technology can be seen on braking times, as modern ABS allows the 2011 Charger to stop 67 feet shorter from 60 to 0, and in a much more composed straight line. The General also falls behind the modern car in skid pad and slalom times. As for which car looks better, we will leave that up to you.
