Meet The 2016 Chevy El Camino And El Camino SS
GM are now ready to make a grand re-entry into the automobile world once again with one of their revolutionary models – El Camino. The Chevrolet El Camino was ceased production in 1988 with its last mythical model. The generation manufactured by GM in 1988 is considered to be the last one for the model. Chevy El Camino appeared in the cars world in 1959 when the car was introduced for the first time.
The design of this vehicle is to be a coupé utility vehicle. The model was produced in five generations between 1959-1960 and 1964-1987. Actually the initial purpose of building this car by Chevrolet was to response to the Ford Ranchero’s success. Let’s summarize the generations of Chevy El Camino:
1. Generation #1 1959-1960
2. Generation #2 1964-1967
3. Generation #3 1968-1972
4. Generation #4 1973 – 1977
5. Generation #5 1978-1987
Actually, there is one mythical 1988 model year that is considered to mark the end of this ride. The first, second, third and forth generations El Camino were based on the Chevelle platform. The fifth generation that appeared 14 years later was based on the GM G-body platform. Lately it was rumoured that GM is going to bring back the El Camino onto the scene and we are so close to it now – it’s just around the corner.
This time the vehicle is going to share the Alpha platform that was introduced with the 2015 Camaro model. The all new Chevy El Camino is coming with a range of new improvements.
